About Me

At Courageous You, I am prepared to help you meet life’s challenges with the strength to overcome them.

All mental health services are by telehealth only.

Hello and welcome!

My name is Sarah Wolfer, and I am a clinical psychotherapist with specialized training and lived experience around working with partner(s), queer folx, and non-monogamous humans. I’ve worked across the United States in a variety of settings over the last 12 years. I graduated with my Masters in Social Work in 2012 from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. Since starting my career, I have worked with a ton of humans including children, teenagers, adults, couples, and other various family systems across a variety of settings.

My life’s work is to provide safe and supportive spaces for queer and non-monogamous humans to explore their inner world and find the healing they need to live a fulfilling life. Courageous You is dedicated to realizing this mission by providing trauma-informed psychotherapy for couples, those who are LGBTIA+ and ENM humans.

I am sex positive (including polyam/kink, and sex work), LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity affirming, and disability advocating. I firmly believe in creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful space for every person and enjoy working with those who live outside of social norms. I will not judge you, for any reason, and will hold you in unconditional positive regard. No subject is taboo.

I work from a social justice integrated approach based in feminist theory, mindfulness, parts work, somatic therapy, transpersonal psychology, psychedelic-assisted therapy (certified through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute) the Gottman method for couples (Level 1 and 2 trained), and cognitive behavioral therapy. I use these approaches to work with my clients through a holistic health lens that emphasizes the inseparable connection between the mind and body. My goals include helping to empower my clients by aiding in the understanding of one’s behavioral patterns and how our thoughts and feelings can drastically impact our behavior.

I have worked extensively with couples, polyamorous/non-monogamous relationships, and individuals facing challenges such as relationship issues, life transitions, neurodivergence (AuDHD), alternative lifestyles and relationships (nonmonogamy, kink etc), members of the queer/ LGBTQIA+ community, anxiety, mood disorders, womxn’s issues, gender identity struggles, spiritual transitions, and trauma, including different forms of abuse/neglect.

I am fully trained and certified in Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy, and I am currently offering remote ketamine-assisted therapy as well as integration and preparation services for other psychedelics.

While I bring clinical expertise, you are the expert on your own life and our collaboration in healing is everything. I show up as a real person and believe that everyone is doing the best they can, when they can. I’ll help you identify your strengths, cultivate your internal and external resources, and make concrete plans that are in line with your goals.

In your therapy with me, we also look at how our world shapes us. This means looking at social/cultural factors and political influences and their influence on how you got to where you are. At the same time, we will take a look at your unique life blueprint and how the experiences you’ve had (both the positive and the challenging ones) helped to create your current reality.

I then use a mix of out-of-the-box and evidence-based practices to help my clients get to where they want to be.
