Psychotherapy for Women

I offer virtual psychotherapy for women in Washington state. My clients are from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and intersecting identities. They are also often driven, self-aware, and experience deep longing to live rich, full lives.

Without a doubt the women I work with are powerhouses, although they don’t always feel that way at first. Their energy is often diminished by fatigue, worry, and stress and that’s  understandable.

Life in 2023 can feel like a lot. Never before have we had so many opportunities and yet we still navigate fierce challenges personally, professionally, and politically, everywhere, all the time.

When we first meet, many of the women I work with are straight-up exhausted from holding it all together day in and day out.

Many of my clients wrestle with sleepless nights or feel constantly on edge. They might feel uncomfortable in their own skin or compare themselves to others and the impossibly high standards society has set for us. Adding salt to the wound, my clients often beat themselves up because they’ve been told that strong women should know better than to feel that way… Others feel like they are always on guard and watching their own backs. They struggle to make sense of all they’ve been through while simultaneously wanting to feel safer in trusting others.

Still, they are not sure how to get there.

And that’s where I come in.

Working from a holistic feminist lens and integrating parts work, somatic techniques, and cognitive behavioral therapy, I utilize an expansive toolkit and a collaborative approach based on the unique needs my clients present with. Overall, I help clients reign in their fear, heal deep wounds and trauma that hold them back, and step into their power so they can live their very best lives despite the inevitable challenges that will come up.

How it works:

I believe it’s possible to move from survival mode to a place of ease. You can thrive, live your purpose and find your joy … even in these challenging times.

You might be wondering what therapy with me looks like, and it’s a good question.

While I bring clinical expertise, you are the expert on your own life and our collaboration in healing is everything. I show up as a real person and believe that everyone is doing the best they can, when they can. I’ll help you identify your strengths, cultivate your internal and external resources, and make concrete plans that are in line with your goals.

In your therapy with me, we also look at how our world shapes us. This means looking at social/cultural factors and political influences and their influence on how you got to where you are.  At the same time, we will take a look at your unique life blueprint and how the experiences you’ve had (both the positive and the challenging ones) helped to create your current reality.

I then use a mix of out-of-the-box and evidence-based practices to help my clients get to where they want to be.

These May Include:

  • Parts work from the Internal Family Systems Model
  • Somatic Techniques
  • The Gottman Method
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Creative Expression
  • Identifying Self-Care and/or Spiritual Practices
  • Narrative Therapy

Sessions are 50 minutes in length and I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available for clients who are unable to afford the full session cost at this time. Reach out to me at info@courageousyou.us to discuss the sliding scale options available for my clients.
